It has been a long wait but……Netball is back! We have just been given the green light to run a 3 week Spring into Netball Classic on:
The focus of the event is about getting together with your friends and teammates, enjoying being back on the courts and most of all – having fun!
Please note the following top line information:
- As at 28 October, Sportlink will be closed to the public and WNA have been provided special access to the outdoor courts
- There will be clearly marked entry and exit points
- The Spring into Netball Classic will be played on the outdoor courts only
- Registration is limited to 80 teams (allocations provided)
- Please contact your Whitehorse Netball Association domestic club if you are keen to put a team in or be part of a team!
- Sections will be age based – 11&U, 13&U, 15&U and 18&U
- Matches will be 8 minute quarters and will be played on the hour from 8am
- Clubs will be required to supply umpires
- Registrations close COB Monday 9 November
- Fixtures will be released on Thursday 12 November
To ensure the safe running of this event, we need the help of our community. As you would appreciate, there are a number of COVID specific regulations which need to be met and this means we need at least 12 additional volunteers on the day. If you, or anyone at your club is able to help out please contact Shannon Beck, gm@whitehorsenetball.org.au. Some of the roles include:
- Entry and Exit Marshal – ensuring all attendees use the correct entry and exit areas, and register attendance
- Cleaning Attendant – cleaning down high use surfaces in between each game (goal posts, balls, player bench)
- Stadium Attendant – ensuring access to inside the stadium is only permitted to access the toilet, and monitoring social distancing requirements
We appreciate that the turn around is very tight, but unfortunately after weeks of negotiating we have only just been granted permission by Council yesterday. The announcements from the Premier this week were very helpful! I look forward to us all working together to deliver this fantastic Spring event and to see some smiling netballers back on the courts.
